The right patch starts with understanding the format. NIGHT offers smooth Everyday Pimple Patches and Advanced Pimple Patches with a microdart surface. They have different designs and belong in different moments of your blemish routine.
Compare the two formats
| What to compare | Everyday | Advanced microdart |
|---|---|---|
| Design | A thin, smooth hydrocolloid patch | A patch with a textured microdart side |
| When to consider it | For covering a visible surface blemish and helping keep hands away | Designed for targeted use when you first feel a new blemish forming |
| Pack options | 224 or 448 patches | 48 patches |
| Application detail | Apply to clean, fully dry skin | Place the microdart side against clean, fully dry skin |
What does hydrocolloid do?
Hydrocolloid is an absorbent dressing material. A patch also provides a physical cover that helps discourage touching. The American Academy of Dermatology includes hydrocolloid patches among options for protecting a pimple while it heals.
A patch is a targeted step. It does not replace an acne care plan, and no patch can promise that every blemish will disappear overnight.
For the cleansing step, see our face wash directions. Let skin dry fully before applying a patch.
How to apply your patch
- Cleanse and dry. Wash your hands, cleanse the area and let it dry fully.
- Apply before creams or oils. Keep the spot free of products that could interfere with adhesion. Follow your patch’s package instructions about other skincare products.
- Check the side. For Advanced patches, the microdart surface faces the skin.
- Press gently. NIGHT’s Advanced directions specify a gentle press for 3 to 5 seconds to secure the patch.
- Follow the wear time. Advanced directions specify 6 or more hours or overnight. Check the instructions for the Everyday pack you are using.
- Remove gently. Discard the used patch and avoid squeezing or picking at the area.

Want both formats?
The 272 count Pimple Patch Duo contains 224 Everyday patches and 48 Advanced patches. Choose it when you want both designs available. If you already know which format you prefer, the individual packs make it easy to replenish that one.
Three mistakes to skip
- Applying a patch over damp skin or a layer of moisturizer.
- Picking at the blemish before or after applying a patch.
- Assuming a stronger sensation means a better result. Remove the patch if irritation develops.
For persistent, painful or scarring acne, seek advice from a dermatologist rather than repeatedly treating the same spot with patches.
