Before starting NIGHT, Kalle Simpson spent a decade working in the home industry. That experience gave her a close view of the products people brought into their bedrooms, and a question she wanted to pursue: what could she do differently?

Experience before the idea
Kalle’s path began in North Carolina’s home industry. In the interview, she describes working for a subsidiary of Tempur Sealy before launching NIGHT. She had spent years in the category before deciding to approach it in her own way.
Her account is a reminder that a business idea can begin with close attention to familiar things. For Kalle, that meant looking at the bedroom products she already knew and seeing room for a different story.
Taking the step to start
Later in the conversation, Kalle returns to the decision to leave an established career. She describes a persistent desire to try, along with the belief that she could make something better. That motivation is the thread running through the interview: experience led to an idea, and the idea led her to start NIGHT.

The original pillow in the press
The Good Housekeeping Institute reviewed the original NIGHT Pillow. Its testers evaluated comfort and the silk-blend cover; the review also reported shrinkage after washing. This is an archival review of that earlier design.
Later coverage explored other NIGHT designs, including ELLE’s selection of the NIGHT Silk Plus pillowcase. That earlier model paired silk with rayon; the current DualSilk pillowcase is described on its product page with silk and eucalyptus sides.
